Blue Bridal Bouquet  From Weddings in Houston Magazine

Glenwood Weber Design was recently featured in Weddings in Houston’s February 2018 issue. Let us take you through the amazing styled photoshoot that features Glenwood Weber’s signature bridal bouquet and his personal touch with the help of a few local vendors.

Behind The Scenes: Blue Styled Wedding Shoot

We were asked to come up with a concept for a styled wedding shoot by Weddings In Houston Magazine. One of our first ideas was to create a floral color pallet using all blue flowers. With Hughes Manor being the venue, it was fitting to use blue. It seems that in nature there are less blue flowers than any other color. With blue being the challenge, we set off to brainstorm/dream of the moments we wanted to capture. We went to Bering’s first and found that they had vast men’s section with accessories of every kind. Including a Custom Menswear Linen Jacket tailored by CJ Dugas. This coat was the perfect color to tie in our concept together. It also matched the selection of men’s accessories from Bering’s, which consisted of:

  • An Assortment of Ties
  • Sunglasses
  • Formal Cuff Links
  • Leather Wallets
  • Watches
  • Shine Brushes Polish for Dress Shoes
  • Men’s Dress Socks
  • Leather Belts

The table top and bridal registry department provided us with the fascinating china and chargers. Bering’s selection of  silverware and stemware were spectacular! What we found for the storyboard for the morning after the honeymoon was a wooden hand carved and a gold leafed breakfast tray. The small cake fork and dessert plate were perfect for our concept of a slice of blue velvet wedding cake with a fresh french press coffee on the breakfast in bed tray. We can’t say enough good things about Bering’s. If you haven’t been there lately, go! And if you have, check them out again. They really do have just about everything.

The Concept: Mesmerizing Blue Hue Bridal Bouquet

Concept for the bridal bouquet florals was a tight clutch of delicate muscari grape hyacinth. We used two hundred stems of this one flower. All leaves removed we were able to compactly display the perfect geometrical form of a sphere using only this one flower. Even with as many stems as there were in the bouquet, it was still a petite, easy to grasp nosegay. Small and powerful. This bouquet commands attention. It’s hard to look away. It’s subtle blue hues are so mesmerizing.

Setting the Scene:  Perfect Wedding Scene

The long ghost chairs, harvest table, linens, overlays and napkins and the oversized teal glass chargers came from EB Inc Event Rentals & Design. The showroom in Humble has beautiful examples of coordinating fabric in every texture and color on the color wheel. Their staff was super helpful and informative. They were able to guide us to what we were hoping to achieve with our styled shoot. They were at the venue very early, before anyone else arrived. They were fast and impeccable with their set up. Once the photo shoot was over they stayed and helped get the space cleared and set back just the way it was before our shoot started.

The long harvest table was provided by EB Inc. Event Rentals & Design. The photographer, Kelli Durham’s vision was to capture the table scape and flowers in natural light. We had a series of olive tree topiaries growing in tall narrow clay pottery. Each of the tiny trees was grow out of a nest tiny succulents paired with cascading thyme herbs. These were nestled in between oversized mossy clay bowls. The low mounding floral composition with every color and texture of blue flower imaginable. The frosty gray swirls and velvety matte texture of tillandsia xerographica create drama and focal interest. There are other subtle details like cut succulents placed directly on the table and fresh green moss globes which have been hand tied with a fine spun gold thread. This eclectic tablescape is fresh and intriguing.
